Have you thought about where you would like to go on your next vacation?

Maybe you want to relax, enjoy nature, have an adventure, or visit beautiful beaches or a magnificent forest. Are you a conservationist in search of the wonders the world has to offer? Well, don’t look any further, Zanzibar is the place to visit.

Jozani-Chwaka Bay National Park

The spectacular Jozani-Chwaka Bay National Park will amaze you. Our tour takes you into the Jozani Forest, the largest natural forest in Zanzibar. Expert tour guides drive you from your hotel and walk with you through ancient hardwoods and mangrove swamps, telling you about the park and its beauty.

Wildlife – Endangered Species

For  wildlife lovers, the famous Red Colobus monkeys, with their spikey grey hair and reddish-bronze backs, make the Jozani Forest their home. Our local, experienced guides will share their knowledge of these splendid animals, unique to Zanzibar.

You will learn about the wide variety of species, including many endangered species, found in the park such as:

  • Sykes Monkey, with a white collar on a black body
  • Tree Hyrax and Bush Babies, both small nocturnal mammals
  • the elusive Zanzibar leopard
  • dozens of different species of butterflies, birds and bats
  • giant snails
  • and many other species

Biodiversity

At the Jozani-Chwaka Bay Biosphere Reserve, you will marvel at the tropical forests, corals, and salt marshes. The exceptional biodiversity reveals reef fishes, dolphins, an unbelievable diversity of plant species, and so many different birds. Nature lovers will not want to leave.

Fishermen will enjoy deep-sea fishing for tuna, marlin, and shark, among others. If culture is on your agenda, learn about locally-made products and handicrafts as well as agriculture and livestock.

The International Union for Conservation of Nature and Natural Resources states that the Jozani National Park contains “the largest remaining stand of near-natural forest on Zanzibar.”

Jozani Forest Protectors

To maintain the park, Zanzibar’s Commission for Natural Resources, CARE International, the government of Austria, the Ford Foundation, and the Global Environment Facility, provide resources to protect this area, its wildlife and its people.

Come to visit and enjoy all the wonders the Jozani Forest has to offer. You will love it!
